Meet Dr. Pandarakalam
Dr. Cyril Pandarakalam is an Associate Professor of the Section of Oral Diagnostic Sciences at the School of Dental Medicine, Southern Illinois University (SIU-SDM). He graduated from Bangalore University, India with a Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1999. After few years of General Dental practice in India, he went on to receive Masters in Oral Pathology and Microbiology (MDS) in 2007 from Calicut University, Kerala, India. After his Masters, he worked as a senior lecturer in KMCT Dental College, India. Later he pursued specialty training in Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine in from Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, California and received a Graduate Certificate in 2010. After a short employment in University of Southern California as a PBL facilitator, he joined SIU-SDM as a full-time tenure-track faculty in 2010. Dr. Pandarakalam is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and American Board of Oral Medicine. He is a member of American Dental Association, American Academy of Oral Medicine, American Board of Oral Medicine and American Board of Orofacial Pain. He conducts research, publishes, consults, and teaches in this capacity.
Dr. Pandarakalam has a part time practice in Illinois Youth Center, Harrisburg, Illinois. Dr. Pandarakalam enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and working out at the gym.
